Gumbo siempre fue un niño como los demás, apenas felíz. Pero eso nunca le impidió estar siempre rodeado de amigos imaginarios y todas esas mascotas que eran los insectos que guardaba con amor dentro de un frasco; sabía ser gentil con la gente que ni si quiera lo tomaba en cuenta y nunca llegó a ser el peor de la clase.
A lo largo de su vida Gumbo fue perfeccionando cada una de estas facetas hasta completar su aislamiento social definitivo, mientras no dejaba de coleccionar víveres y construía un refugio subterráneo debajo del sillón de ver la tele.
Para Gumbo el fin del mundo se fue convirtiendo en el motivo de su vida y lo esperaba con tanta inocente pasión, como un niño espera que Papá Noel lo inunde de regalos. Pero lo que convertía a todo esto en algo super-especial, era que este año ambas cosas llegaban casi de la mano: navidad y fin del mundo. Algo que ayudaba a que Gumbo potenciara aún más su ansiedad y lo animara a recibir ambas catástrofes como lo más increíble que podia ocurrirle nunca a una persona como él.
Hizo de su refugio un inmenso árbol de navidad, decorado con todo lo más cursi que encontró en la tienda del chino de su barrio; preparó un belén con figuras de oferta que pintó y customizó con mucho más placer que criterio y hasta al pequeño niño dios le dibujó su propio rostro (felíz, eso sí). Luego, instaló un enorme reloj digital por encima del belén que reemplazaba a la estrella divina y lo rodeó todo con animales de granja envasados al vacío que fue comprando en el supermercado, cuidando meticulosamente que la fecha de caducidad fuese la misma que la del día del fin.
Luego Gumbo se sentó a esperar y a contar los minutos que quedaban, masticando uvas frescas y cantando villancicos viejos y se durmió, agotado, encima de las hamburguesas de pollo.

Gumbo was always a child like the others, scarcely happy. But that never prevented him from being always surrounded with imaginary friends and all these pets that were the insects that he was keeping with love inside a bottle; he could be a gentile with the people who not if he wants was taking it into consideration and it never became the worst of the class.
Along your life Gumbo was perfecting each of these facets up to completing your definitive social isolation, while it was not stopping collecting supplies and was constructing an underground refuge under the watching TV's armchair.
For Gumbo the end of the world was turning into the motive of your life and he was waiting for it with so many innocent passion, like a child hopes that Santa Claus should flood it with gifts. But what was still making everything more magic, was that this year both things were coming from the hand: christmas and end of the world. All this was helping to that Gumbo was promoting your anxiety and up it was cheering it to receive both catastrophes as the most incredible thing that could never happen to a person like him.
There did of your refuge an immense christmas tree, decorated with everything the most vulgar that found in the chinese shop of your street; he prepared a nativity scene with figures of offer that did and customize with much more pleasure than criterion and to the small child god drew his own face (happy, of course). Then, he installed an enormous digital clock over the nativity scene that was replacing the divine star and everything surrounded it with animals of farm packed to the gap, that he was buying at the supermarket, taking care meticulously, that the expiry date was the same that that of the day of the end.
Then, Gumbo sat down to wait and to count the minutes that were staying, chewing fresh grapes and singing old songs of praise and fell asleep, exhausted, on the chicken hamburgers.
